Humpback whales, Megaptera novaeanglidae, migrate from their feeding grounds in Antarctica, along the New Zealand coast, to the Kingdom of Tonga where they stay from July through September to court, mate, and calve. Join Immersed Imaging on a spectacular 9-day expedition aboard the NAI'A to experience first-hand this "Tongan tribe" of humpbacks!
Sailing throughout a maze of islands and reefs, the location and activity of the whales largely determines the precise course of each new day. From the sight of the first breach at dawn, to the silhouette of whales resting at sundown, these expeditions are a special and rare kind of ocean adventure in a particularly picturesque part of the world. Be sure to mark your calendars for August 11-20, 2018, for this trip of a lifetime. We will be on board to assist you with any imaging needs you may have, including private tutoring and workshops.
The 9-night charter is $6,031 ($4,825 + $1,206 tax) per person plus a nominal fuel surcharge (to be collected by the crew at the end of the journey and will be determined 3 months prior to departure). This trip is limited to just 16 guests, and includes the following:
This is a snorkel / free-dive trip, and we will be focusing photographing the whales without strobes so your luggage will be lighter than normal! Please be sure to bring all your snorkel/ free-dive gear including fins and a wetsuit.
